Elmont Gas Station Owner Arrested For Fraud

An Elmont gas station owner  was arrested Saturday for allegedly defrauding customers.

Nassau County police say an officer on patrol noticed at the USA Gas Station located at 1616 Dutch Broadway that the price posted on the large overhead sign read $3.83 per gallon, but the pump showed and charged $4.59 per gallon.

The owner was told by the officer to make the proper changes that morning but, according to police, the officer along with a supervisor returned several hours later to find the corrections were not made.

The owner, 74-year-old Fouad Elmaria of Rockville Centre was arrested at the scene.

The defendant is being charged with defrauding and false advertising.
