More good news for Long Island commuters… The Long Island Rail Road restored train service between Greenport and Ronkonkoma on Thursday and has resumed its modified schedule on all branches, except on the Long Beach Branch.
However the LIRR also warns customers that they could still experience some residual delays caused by Wednesday’s nor’easter, which left Long Island covered with a blanket of snow, slush and even more downed trees.
Reduced train capacity in the East River tunnels and heavy passenger volume system-wide are also expected to create longer wait times and crowded cars.
