Suffolk County police issued a Farmingville man two summonses after he was found improperly dispensing fuel in the Lake Shore Plaza parking lot on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma.
Police say more than 100 vehicles were gathered in the lot and along Portion Road to buy gas from Robert Faulkner, the owner of Direct Marine Fuel Corporation, who was dispensing gas from a company-owned fuel delivery truck and selling it for $4.80 a gallon.
A fire marshal from the Brookhaven Town Department of Building and Fire Prevention responded and issued Faulkner, 48, a summons for handling flammable liquids without a permit and a summons for improper dispensing of flammable liquids.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance was notified.
