Hurricane Sandy: Is Daylight Saving Time Canceled in New York?

Is Daylight Saving Time canceled in New York State this year due to Hurricane Sandy? Unfortunately, the answer to the question so many people have been asking, is no.

And if  Daylight Saving Time in NY was canceled, it would probably just add to the chaos, although the earlier darkness won’t be doing the devastated areas around Long Island and the surrounding areas any favors.

Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at 2 a.m., which means Saturday night before you go to sleep, turn your clocks back one hour.

While Long Island and the rest of the metropolitan area continue a slow recovery from Hurricane Sandy we get an extra hour added to our weekend, but this may be the one year we don’t really want it.
