Alligator Caught Walking in Baldwin Parking Lot

Nassau County police caught a baby alligator outside of a supermarket in Baldwin on Tuesday evening—the second such discovery on Long Island in four days.

Witnesses reported a gator up to three-feet long walking in the parking lot of Pathmark on Grand Avenue shortly before 8 p.m.

First Precinct officers captured the gator and held it for Emergency Services Unit officers, who placed it in a cage and will release it to a local wildlife expert.

Suffolk County police had captured a gator about the same size that was found in a Mastic Beach yard Friday.
