Two men were arrested for drunken driving after they crashed their vehicles in the Hamptons over the weekend, Southampton Town Police said.
In the first case, Heriberto Otero, 48, of Sag Harbor, was driving his Dodge eastbound on Montauk Highway in Southampton when he crashed into a westbound Toyota that made a turn in front of him at 8:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
Then at 2:31 a.m. Saturday, OnStar, the in-vehicle security system, called police to report that 36-year-old Richard Depetris was unresponsive after crashing his vehicle at the corner of Noyac and North Sea roads in his hometown of Southampton.
Officers arrived on the scene and found Depetris struck a tree, hid his vehicle in a driveway and tried walking away, police said.
Otero and Depetris were both found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. They were charged with driving while intoxicated.
Otero was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Depetris was additionally charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
They were scheduled to be arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court.
