Bias Graffiti Found on North Bay Shore Mosque


Suffolk County police released this image of graffiti found on a mosque recently.

Suffolk County police Hate Crimes Unit detectives are investigating graffiti referring to the death of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya that was found on a mosque in North Bay Shore last week.

Police said the vandal spray painted “RIP US Ambassador” and “The War Will Rise” on the north exterior wall of the Masjid Darul Quran mosque on East 3rd Avenue.

The criminal mischief is believed to have occurred sometime between Wednesday, Sept. 12 and Thursday, Sept.13.

Chris Stevens, the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, was killed Sept. 11 along with diplomat Sean Smith and two former Navy SEALs during protests against an anti-Muslim movie filmed in California that surfaced online recently.
