An alleged drunken boater has been indicted on upgraded charges of vehicular manslaughter and 18 other counts for a crash on the Great South Bay that left a fisherman dead.
Brian Andreski pleaded not guilty at Suffolk County court Wednesday to boating while intoxicated, speeding, reckless driving and the other charges.
Prosecutors said the 27-year-old Dix Hills man had a blood alcohol content of .18 percent—more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent—when he crashed his 25-foot speedboat into a fishing vessel near the Robert Moses Causeway bridge in the early morning hours of June 23.
Christopher Mannino, 39, of West Islip, was one of six aboard the 38-foot fishing boat on its way to a Mako Shark fishing tournament when he was flung into the water.
Suffolk County police divers found his body about nine hours later. The other passengers were not hurt.
