Suffolk County Police have arrested two people for Boating While Intoxicated during their first ever BWI Sobriety Checkpoint Saturday evening on the Patchogue River in the vicinity of the Sandspit Marina in Patchogue.

Police say a total of 23 boats went through the checkpoint and Ann Marie O’Toole, 55, of Holbrook and Michael Bacher, 49, of Patchogue were charged with operating a vessel while in an intoxicated condition.

At a separate location, police arrested Frank Vogt, Jr., of Lindenhurst and charged him with boating while intoxicated and operating a vessel after sunset without navigation lights displayed.
