A 44-year-old Sayville elementary school custodian has been accused of downloading child pornography off the Internet.

Suffolk County police said Shawn Mead, of Patchogue, was found to have on his computer numerous pornographic digital images that included photos and videos of young children engaged in sexual activity.
Mead, who works at the Lincoln Avenue Elementary School, turned himself in on Tuesday.
He was arrested and charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Bail was set at $5,000. Prosecutors had sought $200,000. Defense attorney Jason Bassett said Mead expected to post bail and be released.
Bassett said Mead worked the overnight shift and had no contact with children at the school.
His next court date is Oct. 17.
