2 Men Charged in May Massapequa Robbery

Two men have been arrested in connection with a May robbery and now face robbery charges after they were apprehended this week, Nassau County police said.

Detectives said they arrested 21-year-old Anise Matthew, of West Babylon, on Thursday in Amityville. The second suspect, Tishawri Tate, 21, of Amityville, surrendered to investigators on Saturday, police said.

Both men have been charged with second-degree robbery for allegedly taking two shirts from an H&M store in Massapequa on May 26.

According to police, the two men were stopped while leaving the store by a 21-year-old loss prevention officer who approached them outside the store to retrieve the shirts, valued at nearly $40.

Both men then allegedly started punching the man in the head and neck, but the officer was able to hold on to the items, police said. Both men then fled the scene.

Matthew was arraigned earlier this week. Tate will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
