A Nassau County corrections officer has been accused of trying to meet a 12-year-old upstate New York girl for a sexual encounter.
Carmel police arrested 31-year-old Anthony Petretti at his home on Friday and charged him with attempted disseminating of indecent material to a minor, a felony.
“As a result of his arrest he is suspended pending the investigation,” Nassau County Sheriff Michael Sposato said in a statement.
Police said investigators took over the Facebook account of the girl that he tried to meet at a hotel last month.
Detectives executed a search warrant at his home, where they seized two computers and a cell phone after questioning the suspect, police said.
He was allegedly linked to the girl through computer and phone records.
Putnam County Judge James Reitz set bail for Petretti at $75,000.
