Model Lauren Scruggs, who lost her left eye and left hand when she walked into an airplane propeller in Texas eight months ago, has broken her silence.

The 24-year-old opened up about how she almost lost her life in December when she returned from taking the short flight to see the Christmas lights over Dallas.
“I remember my feet touching the ground, getting out of the plane,” she told the Today show Thursday. “That’s all I remember.”
Scruggs also suffered a fractured skull, broken collarbone and brain injuries.
“Emotionally days are hard sometimes—just accepting the loss of my eye and hand—but it gets better,” she said.
Showing off her new prosthetic hand, Scruggs said she wanted to assure her fans that she was recovering and wanted to offer others hope. She was all smiles during the interview, which took place at the London Olympics.
When asked who inspired her at the Olympics, she named Gabby Douglas, the first African-American to win gymnastics gold. Douglas surprised Lauren with a visit during her interview.
“I’m so happy and so excited for you and all that you’ve overcome,” Douglas said. “Keep staying strong and you’ll keep shining.”
Scruggs also released the cover to her upcoming autobiography, “Still Lolo,” to prove she is moving on with her life.
She said that the accident has given her a new perspective on life. “The Lord has a strong purpose in it,” she said.
