Service on the Ronkonkoma Branch of the Long Island Rail Road has been restored after police shut down service for about an hour following the discovery of a suspicious package in Farmingdale.
An LIRR spokesman said service was restored just after 9 a.m.
Nassau County police responded to the Farmingdale station around 7:40 a.m., after receiving a call about an unattended suspicious package in the area. Service was suspended at 8:05 a.m.

Police said Arson Bomb Squad investigators are still on the scene.
The incident caused a westbound Ronkonkoma train to be delayed at the Deer Park station for 57 minutes, the railroad spokesman said.
