The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook in Suffolk and Nassau counties for Sunday afternoon and evening in anticipation of a “complex frontal system” that will bring strong to severe showers and thunderstorms to the area.
While Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 85, Sunday afternoon and night could see damaging winds and torrential rain. The rain could result in flash flooding. Meteorologists say that the worst part of the system will go over Long Island Sunday night.
The showers and thunderstorms are forecast to continue through to Monday morning, and some could produce heavy rain. The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 86.
