Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders both separately issued public apologies to their loved ones Wednesday for their affair with one another.
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” Stewart, 22, said in a statement to People. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
The Rob she is referring to is, of course, her boyfriend Robert Pattinson. The two have been dating since they first met on the Twilight set over three years ago.
Sanders, who is married with two children, also released a public apology via People: “I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”
Sanders, 41, directed Snow White and the Huntsman, which starred Stewart. The film also featured his wife Liberty Ross, who played a young Stewart’s mother. On Tuesday, Ross tweeted “Wow,” and deleted her Twitter account shortly after.
The hookup was first exposed when US Weekly published pictures of Stewart and Sanders canoodling one another and making out in Los Angeles on July 17. A source told People that the fling was a one-time thing.
“She [Stewart] wasn’t having an affair with Rupert,” the source said. “It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn’t have happened. She never meant to hurt anyone. She’s a good person who just made a bad choice.”
