The collision occurred at the corner of Matinecock Court and Oyster Bay Road at 2:30 p.m., according to a police spokesman.

A Homicide Squad detective at the scene told the Press that three 6 year olds and one 9 year old were injured. They were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries, police said.

The identity of the driver was not immediately available.

Long Island Rail Road service was suspended between Locust Valley and Oyster Bay at the start of the Monday evening rush hour commute after the truck and bus struck an LIRR overpass.

Buses will replace trains between those stops. Police cautioned drivers to avoid the area due to significant delays.
