The body of an elderly man was found in wooded area in Central Islip on Monday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call from a resident who made the discovery behind a commercial building on Creative Drive at 12:56 p.m., police said.

The body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be performed.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation. The man’s identity was not immediately available.
