Organization Receives $2M for Buoy Program

An organization that monitors a series of ocean buoys in the Gulf of Maine and off southern New England is benefiting from a new round of federal funding.

The New Hampshire-based Northeastern Regional Association of Coastal and Observing Systems monitors buoys from Long Island Sound to Nova Scotia that collect weather and ocean data.

The $2 million from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration represents the second year of funding of a 5-year award.
