Man Charged With Attempted Kidnapping in Massapequa

A Queens man has been accused of beating, choking and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend while she was working at Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa last month.

Nassau County police arrested Franklyn Brown on Wednesday and charged him with attempted kidnapping, robbery, burglary, criminal contempt, criminal obstruction of breathing and assault.

Police said Brown showed up at the 23-year-old victim’s job on June 21, when he kicked, punched and choked her.

The 24-year-old suspect allegedly dragged the victim out of the store and into the parking lot, where he continued choking her and threatened her life.

The victim suffered injuries to her neck, eye, foot and face. An armored car driver intervened and Brown fled with the victim’s cell phone, police said.

Police said the victim had an order of protection against Brown.

Brown will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
