Central Islip Woman’s Death Ruled a Homicide

A Central Islip woman found dead in her hometown over the weekend was the victim of a homicide, Suffolk County police said Wednesday.

Investigators said they ruled 20-year-old Jennifer Perez’s death a homicide following an examination by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office.

The medical examiner’s report revealed that she suffered from blunt force trauma, said Det. Sgt. John Best.

When Perez’s body was discovered on the side of the road in Central Islip Saturday morning, it wasn’t immediately clear if her death was caused by a crash or if she was the victim of a homicide, Best said.

Her body was discovered on Pinewood Avenue at 7:27 a.m., police said. A passing motorist saw the body and called police.

Her body was then taken to the medical examiner’s officer where an autopsy was performed.

Detectives ask anyone with information to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
