Westbury Man Shot in Groin at Copiague Store


A man was shot and wounded outside of a convenience store in Copiague on Monday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Demetrie Breland was sitting on the side of Speedy Mart on Great Neck Road, when a gunman walked up and shot him in the groin at 11 a.m., police said.

The 20-year-old Westbury man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic man, 5-feet, 5-inches tall, wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and had a gold and silver handgun. He fled on foot on Dante Avenue.
