A small plane taking off from Bayport Aerodrome Saturday afternoon crashed during takeoff, Suffolk County police said.
A police spokeswoman said the pilot of the biplane decided to abort takeoff after noticing turbulence. The plane came down at the end of the roadway, and “jammed the break” before the plane flipped over, the spokeswoman said.
The small crash occurred around 2:30 p.m., police said.
