Man Stored Dangerous Chemicals in Garage, Cops Say

An East Moriches man was arrested Tuesday after his family discovered dangerous chemicals in their garage, Suffolk County police said.

When police arrived at Ronald Walker’s parents Woodcrest Drive home, they found several marked containers of household chemicals that could be used to manufacture fireworks, police said. Non-chemical components of homemade fireworks were also found.

Suffolk police’s emergency service unit was called to the scene to remove the chemicals, but some were deemed to dangerous to move, police said. Those items were later rendered safe at the house, police said.
