Cops: Man Broke into Car, Used Stolen Credit Card

Suffolk County police is seeking the public’s health to identify and locate a man who broke into a car in the parking lot of a North Bellport restaurant and stole several items, including a credit card, which was later used to make several purchases, police said.

Police said on June 23, a man approached the car in the Friendly’s restaurant parking lot around 3 p.m. and used a rock to smash the passenger side window of a 2003 Ford Escape. The man stole a Coach wristlet containing cash and a credit card, police said.

Later that day, the suspect used the stolen credit card to make purchases at stores in Bellport and East Patchogue, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 5-foot-2, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and red sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
