A Glen Cove man shot and killed his ex-wife on Monday in Mill Neck before turning the gun on himself, Nassau County police said.
Homicide detectives issued a news release Tuesday saying they identified the victim as 45-year-old Clara Urbina-Villalobos, of Glen Cove. Police also identified the shooter as her former spouse, Eddy Abregu, 51.
A police spokeswoman said the pair was driving down Oyster Bay Road at around 8 a.m. when the car came to halt. That’s when Abregu allegedly shot his ex-wife and then committed suicide.

A person driving behind Urbina-Villalobos’ Toyota Sienna noticed the confrontation inside the car and heard the gunshots.
The witness then called 911.
Both Urbina-Villalobos and Abregu were already dead when responding officers arrived on the scene, police said.
The Nassau County Medical Examiner’s office identified both victims on Tuesday.
The police spokeswoman said detectives are still piecing together what happened before the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
