Cops Seek Tips in Case of Injured Woman in Islip


An unidentified 54-year-old woman who fell off her bicycle in Islip has been hospitalized since she was found two weeks ago, Suffolk County police said Monday.

Authorities are now asking for the public’s help with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s injuries.

Police said victim fell from her bike as she rode home from the beach on Commack Road shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 21.

A witness called 911 and emergency personnel who responded found that she was bleeding profusely, police said.

The woman lost consciousness and was taken to a local hospital, where she remains in guarded condition.

The victim was described as a white woman, 5-feet, 3-inches tall with a small build. She has brown curly hair and brown eyes.

She was riding a blue-green bicycle and carrying a blue and white beach chair with shoulder straps.

Third Squad detectives ask anyone with information about this incident to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, or text SCPD and your message to CRIMES. All calls will be kept confidential.
