A 26-year-old Queens man drowned while swimming in Trout Pond during a day trip with friends to Noyack on Saturday afternoon.

Southampton Town Police said Tyreef Benston went for a swim in the pond, which does not have lifeguard protection, when he went underwater and did not come back up shortly after 5 p.m.

Dive teams from the Sag Harbor and North Sea fire departments joined Southampton police divers in the search before they found the victim dead in 11 feet of water 17 feet from the boardwalk area.

Suffolk County medical examiners will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
