Federal authorities helped Nassau County police apprehend a suspect wanted for a Roosevelt murder earlier this month.
U.S. Marshals arrested Alcides Diaz-Fernandez in New Jersey this week. The 32-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder, pending extradition from Essex County.
Homicide Squad detectives alleged Diaz-Fernandez fatally slashed 31-year-old Jose Romero during a fight in a parking lot on Nassau Road on June 3.
The victim died two hours later at Nassau University Medical Center.
Both the suspect and the victim are from Roosevelt.
Diaz-Fernandez will be arraigned at a later date at First District Court in Hempstead.
