Nassau Cop Gets Community Service for Theft

A Nassau County police officer accused of shoplifting $40 worth of baby food from a West Hempstead supermarket will do 14 hours of community service.

A court reportedly decided to dismiss charges against Officer Thomas Welsh if he stays out of trouble for the rest of the year.

He had been charged with stealing 29 pouches of organic baby food using hidden shopping bags and a bungee cord while at a Stop N Shop.
