Laurie Phillips was driving a Firebird westbound on Route 25 when she rear-ended a marked police vehicle driven by an officer who was on patrol with the Anti-Aggressive Driving Task Force at 9:35 p.m., police said.
The officer had just hit the gas after stopping at a red light at the corner of Hammond Road.
The 47-year-old woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as a felony due to a prior DWI conviction within 10 years.
Phillips was also issued traffic summonses for speeding and using a cell phone without a hands-free device.
The officer was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Phillips was not injured.
She will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
