Brentwood Man Robbed Salon After Trying Bank, Cops Say

A 54-year-old man was arrested for robbing a Bay Shore beauty salon after trying to rob a nearby bank on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Anthony Jannace, of Brentwood, entered the Citibank on East Main Street and gave the teller a handwritten note demanding cash at 12:30 p.m., police said.

The teller did not comply and Jannace fled the bank empty handed, police said.

Then at 1:55 p.m., the suspect walked into the Salon Astarte on West Main Street, where he verbally demanded cash from an employee, police said.

The employee complied and gave Jannace cash from the drawer, police said.

K-9 officers apprehended Jannace an hour and ½ later, police said.

Jannace was charged with robbery and attempted robbery.

He will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
