A 41-year-old man has been accused of assaulting two Nassau County police officers who pulled him over in his hometown of Roosevelt on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Officers pulled over a BMW driven by Jorge Guevara on Nassau Road at 3:32 p.m., when they found three children in the vehicle, including a 2-year-old who was not in a car seat, police said.
Guevara was found to be driving with a suspended license, police said. He tried to walk away when a struggled ensued as the officers attempted to arrest him, police said.

Guevara and the officers were all taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries suffered during the scuffle.
Guevara suffered a contusion to his face. One officer suffered contusions, lacerations and a sprained finger. The other officer sustained several fractures to his hand.
The children were released to their mother.
Guevara was charged with assault, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and traffic violations.
He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
