A Bohemia man has been accused of driving drunk with a 4-year-old boy in his SUV after he crashed the truck on Wednesday evening.

Nassau County police said Daryl Veit was driving his Ford Explorer northbound on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway when he struck the guardrail at Exit 13 in Woodbury at 8:20 p.m.

Officers found the 42-year-old Bohemia man to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.

The child was released to his mother with no injuries. Veit was treated at a local hospital for a back pain.

Veit was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child under 15, a felony under Leandra’s Law.

He will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
