Massapequa Man Shot At After Parking Space Argument

by Rashed Mian on June 16, 2012

An argument over a parking space at a Dunkin Donuts in Amityville took a dangerous turn Saturday morning when shots were fired following the altercation.

Suffolk County police said a 30-year-old Massapequa man was at the coffee shop at 355 Broadway when he got into an argument over a parking space with another man just after 9 a.m.

After the argument, the Massapequa man got into his 2007 Chevrolet, left the parking lot, and drove north on Broadway. The person he just finished arguing with followed behind in his light brown Chevrolet Tahoe, caught up with the other man, and fired one shot at his vehicle with a handgun, hitting the front wheel as he was crossing over the Sunrise Highway overpass, police said.

The unidentified victim and his 21-year-old passenger were not injured in the road rage attack, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, balding with a full black beard, between 30 to 40 years old, six feet tall, 200 pounds with a muscular build, police said. He was wearing a green and black hat, white shirt and brown shorts at the time of the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
