New Cassel Man Arrested for Attacking Alzheimer’s Patient

Nassau County police arrested a New Cassel man in connection with an assault and robbery in April that left an Alzheimer’s disease patient in a coma, police said.

Detectives arrested 23-year-old Josue Bonilla and charged him with first-degree robbery and first-degree assault.

Police said a witness saw a Hispanic man yelling and knocking down a 68-year-old Hicksville man on Grayson Street just before 9 a.m. on April 28.

Bonilla allegedly kicked the man on the head and body while going through his pockets, police said.

After the attack, Bonilla fled east on Oliver Street, police said.

The unidentified Alzheimer’s patient was immediately taken to a local hospital and is still in a coma, police said.

Bonilla will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
