Freeport Robber Steals Cell Phone at Gunpoint


A man was robbed at gunpoint for his cell phone on a street corner in Freeport on Wednesday evening, Nassau County police said.

The robber, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, approached the victim at the corner of Rogers Place and Independence Avenue, where the gunman demanded the victim hand over his cell phone at 5:20 p.m., police said.

The victim complied and the robber ran away eastbound on Independence Avenue.

The suspect was described as a black man with a light complexion, clean shaven with a scar on his lip, wearing a blue Yankees baseball hat and a blue jacket with “Yankees” on the back.
