A New York City man was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead shortly after midnight Tuesday, New York State police said.

Lachan Fernandez-Molina was riding a BMW motorcycle westbound when he lost control and drove onto the north shoulder before striking a tree near exit 19, police said.

The 28-year-old East Elmhurst man, who was ejected from the motorcycle, was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he later died.
