Lynbrook Mom Drove High With Kids, Cops Say


A Lynbrook woman was allegedly under the influence of drugs Monday morning when she crashed her car at a Shirley gas station with her two children in the car, Suffolk County police said.

Jennifer Drozdowicz was driving her 1999 Oldsmobile Alero in the parking lot of Coastal Gas Station on William Floyd Parkway when she struck one of the station’s gas pumps just after 8 a.m., police said. Her two sons, 4 and 5, were in the car at the time of the accident, but were not injured.

Detectives charged the 37-year-old mother with driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years old or younger, which is a felony under Leandra’s Law. She was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Her two sons were released to family members, police said.

Drozdowicz will be held overnight and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
