2 Robbed at Gunpoint in West Hempstead


A man and woman were robbed at gunpoint while walking down a street in West Hempstead early Sunday morning, Nassau County police said.

A 24-year man and 23-year old woman were walking near the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Broad Street when a man with a handgun demanded money at 3 a.m., police said.

The man handed over his wallet before the robber snatched the woman’s purse and fled on foot southbound on Broad Street.

He was seen entering a newer model two-door red Honda that fled eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike with two other men inside.

The suspect was described as a black man, 20 years old, 6-feet tall, with a thin build, wearing blue jeans and black hooded sweatshirt.
