A 30-year-old man was shot twice by a gunman moments after he withdrew money from an ATM inside a Lakeview store on Friday, Nassau County police said.
Detectives said the victim left the store on Woodfield Road at 5:09 p.m. and was standing with friends on Bee Gee Court when he was approached by a black male.
The man, around 18 to 22 years old, wearing khaki pants, a white shirt and red baseball cap, displayed an automatic handgun and demanded the victim’s property, police said. The victim grabbed the suspect’s weapon, and the suspect discharged the gun, police said. The victim stepped back and the suspect pointed the gun at his face and fired a shot, hitting the man in his hand.

As the gunman fled he fired the automatic weapon again, hitting the victim in the shoulder, police said.
The shooter was last seen running north on Woodfield Road.
The unidentified 30-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment where he is listed in stable condition.
