Wyandanch Teen Sentenced for Gang Murder

A Wyandanch teenager has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for killing a rival gang member five years ago.

Suffolk County Court Judge Martin Efman sentenced Gabriel Hubbard on Thursday.

Hubbard was convicted of second-degree murder last month.

Prosecutors said Hubbard used an AK-47 to shoot a North 18th Street house with gunfire, killing 18-year-old Jaquan Jones on the night of July 5, 2008.

Three other men were wounded in the shooting.

Police apprehended the teen in North Carolina in 2010.

The sentence was reportedly the maximum since the 19-year-old was a juvenile at the time.
