Nicki Minaj may never grace the stage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam again, according to reports.
Sources close to the rapper told celebrity website TMZ that Minaj has vowed to never perform at Summer Jam again, stating that she doesn’t want to work around negative people when there are countless others who want to hear her music.
Minaj was set to headline this year’s concert on Sunday but backed out after Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg insulted one of her songs just a few hours before it started.
“I see the real hip-hop heads sprinkled in here; I see them. I know there are some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later, I’m not talking to y’all right now, f**k that bulls**t,” he said on a small stage outside of the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. “Bulls**t! I’m here to talk about real hip-hop s**t.”
His comments got back to Lil Wayne, who pulled all of his YMCMB performers except for Tyga, who was in the middle of his set when the decision was made.
“Young Money ain’t doing summer jam,” Lil Wayne tweeted about a half hour into the show.
Minutes later Minaj confirmed it, tweeting that “the President has spoken.”
“I go above and beyond for my fans,” she wrote. “But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes.”
Rosenberg, who has criticized Minaj for “selling out” with the single in the past, did not go back on his words on Monday morning.
“last night i said nothing different than I have ever said…it was not a personal dis..it was starships is sh*t..WHICH WE ALL KNOW IS TRUE.”
