Top 10 Tuesday: Surfing Beaches on Long Island

Top10Tues1

Long Islanders got a small taste of what the surfing world is when the Quick Silver Pro New York surf competition hit the city of Long Beach last summer, just days after Tropical Storm Irene rocked the area.

But we don’t need a bunch of world-renowned surfers—and a hurricane—to come to our shores for us to realize how great the waves on Long Island can be.

Sure, this isn’t Hawaii, but LI beaches have a lot to offer when it comes time to dust off the longboard and put on the wetsuit.

Don’t believe us? Just head down to your local beach and you’re sure to see a couple of brave guys and girls hitting the waves. (We wouldn’t dare. But don’t judge us).

Top 10 Tuesday: Every Tuesday. Every Week.

And since the summer is oh so close, we decided this week was the perfect time to take a look at some of the best beaches on LI to catch some waves.

From Long Beach to Montauk, there’s plenty of places to catch some nice waves.

And if you don’t like to take part in such activities (like us), then it’s always fun to relax on the beach and watch the surfers take on the waves.

Cowabunga!
