Hauppauge Crash Kills 85-Year-Old Man


An elderly man was killed when he crashed into another car in Hauppauge on Friday night, Suffolk County police said.

Police said 85-year-old Michael Santor was driving a 1994 Infiniti east on Veterans Highway when he attempted to make a left onto Spartan Lane just after 6 p.m. and crashed into another car.

Both drivers were transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown. Santor was pronounced dead at 7:14 p.m., police said. The other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his head and chest.

Police said the investigation into the crash will continue. The department impounded both vehicles for safety checks. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
