4 golf greats differ on Tiger’s future

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) — Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino offer differing opinions on Tiger Woods’ chances of passing Nicklaus’ record of major championships.

The four golfing greats gathered at The Woodlands Country Club to play an exhibition in conjunction with the Champions Tour event. While they couldn’t help but wonder if this would be their last opportunity to play together, they also weighed in on Woods’ future.

Woods is stuck on 14 major championships, four shy of Nicklaus’ career mark.

Nicklaus and Player think Woods still has time to rediscover his game and surpass Nicklaus’ total. Palmer thinks Woods is “going to have trouble” reaching the mark. Trevino thinks it’ll be harder for Woods to win four more majors than it was to win the 14 he already owns.
