The mainstay newspaper on Long Island is branching out.

The company that owns Newsday on Monday announced the launch of a regional website to cover news in Westchester and Rockland counties and the Hudson Valley.

The Newsday for Westchester site will also have iPhone and iPad applications.

It’s a project of Cablevision, which owns Newsday as well as television channels in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.

Customers who subscribe to Cablevision’s internet service will get Newsday for Westchester at no additional cost. Others can buy a subscription for $1.15 per week.
