Levittown Schools on ‘Lockout’ Amid Police Activity

A high school and elementary school in Levittown are on “lockout” as police contend with a barricaded person in a nearby home.

Nassau County Police were called to a Levittown home at about 8 a.m. A man believed to be emotionally disturbed was inside a house. Police negotiators were called to the scene.

A statement on the Levittown School District web site says that as a precautionary measure, Division Avenue High School and Summit Lane Elementary Schools were placed on lockout.

Students are not being permitted to leave the building. The statement says police do not believe any students or staff member is in danger.
