A Manorville man was arrested for drunken driving after he allegedly fled the scene of a car crash in Riverhead that left a woman severely injured, Riverhead Town Police said.
Michael Murphy, 39, fled the scene of the crash near the corner of Sound Avenue and Twomey Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. K-9 Unit officers apprehended him shortly later.
The other driver, 25-year-old Liliana Rios, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries to her chest.
The passenger in her car was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
Murphy was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. He will be arraigned at Riverhead Town Justice Court.
