For those of you who may have heard that Usher was dead, no worries. The “Let It Burn” song bird is alive and well.
If Twitter alone could kill celebrities, it would be a serial killer but fortunately, Twitter cannot actually kill anyone.
There was a retweet from a Twitter user which made the rumor go viral.
According to reports from the Global Associated News, Usher died when he was involved in a car accident on April 10, 2012. It states, “Usher died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident on April 10, 2012. Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Usher lost control while driving a friend’s vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly.”
Although it seems like the Global Associated News is a legitimate site, the problem with the website is that it’s fake. The entire point of the website is for people to make up their own stories about celebrities, reports z6mag. When go on to their homepage you just have to add the celebrity’s name that you want to write a rumor about, then find a pre-formatted false story. Then final move of the pre-meditated prank is sharing the fake news story with friends.
However, not everyone was so easily fooled by the hoax. Some people tweeted:

“If usher were dead I think it would be on every news channel, he’s a huge artist. I won’t believe it until I see it on tv.”

“twitter keep killing ppl , usher is not dead lol…. I dnt think”
The website says that anyone can ask to have their name removed from the site, but that no one has ever asked to be taken off the list.
